Anhui Province Activates Level IV Flood Emergency Response Across 12 Cities on May 24

According to Anhui's Department of Water Resources, the province activated Level IV flood emergency response across 12 cities starting 10 a.m. on May 24 in response to anticipated heavy rainfall. The Anhui Meteorological Department forecasts that from May 24–26, southern regions of Anhui's Huaihe River basin will experience heavy to torrential rain, with the main rain belt concentrated in the Dabie Mountains and areas along the Yangtze River. Cumulative rainfall is expected to reach 100–260 mm in the Dabie Mountains, 80–130 mm in the Chaohu Basin, 90–140 mm in areas south of the Yangtze, and 90–180 mm in southern Anhui mountains, with hourly rainfall intensity of 60–80 mm. Authorities predict possible flood conditions in mid-sized rivers and lakes, significant pressure on reservoirs, and potential flash floods in mountain regions.
