House Ways and Means Committee Introduces Six Crypto Tax Bills, Holds Hearing

According to Eleanor Terrett, the House Ways and Means Committee held a crypto taxation hearing on June 9 and introduced six separate bills and one discussion draft. The six bills address crypto donations, mining and staking taxation, reporting requirements, tax treatment parity, voluntary disclosure, and applying existing anti-abuse tax rules to digital assets. The discussion draft targets offshore crypto tax avoidance. Witnesses included representatives from Fidelity, Coinbase, Coin Center, and New York University's Tax Center.
