According to CCTV News, on May 24 at noon, the Huai River Flood Control Authority launched a Level-4 flood emergency response for the upper and southern regions of the Huai River basin. The action followed forecasts of heavy to extreme rainfall expected from May 24-25, with regional precipitation of 40-60 millimeters and up to 100 millimeters in the Da别 Mountains reservoir area. Authorities warned that major tributaries and smaller rivers in heavy rainfall zones could experience floods exceeding alert levels.
