Iran Establishes Management Mechanism for Hormuz Strait Shipping Lanes

According to Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee chairman Ibrahim Azizi on May 16, Iran has established a professional mechanism to manage traffic on designated shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz. The mechanism will be unveiled soon and will charge required fees for services. Azizi stated that only commercial vessels cooperating with Iran and relevant parties will benefit from the mechanism, which will remain closed to certain maritime activities.
