According to Jin10 data tracking, Iran and the U.S. agreed on May 16 to delay negotiations on uranium enrichment materials. Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi confirmed ongoing talks with Russia on uranium storage proposals and stated the delay aims to preserve diplomatic space. He also expressed lack of trust in the U.S. but indicated willingness to maintain the ceasefire framework.
Trump stated that Iran’s proposed 20-year pause on uranium enrichment is insufficient and said appropriate timing could be used to acquire uranium materials, warning of action if the U.S. does not obtain “Iran’s nuclear dust.” Araghchi responded that Iran does not seek to develop nuclear weapons and reaffirmed that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to friendly nations’ commercial vessels.
