According to recent comments, Elon Musk addressed the controversy surrounding SpaceX’s governance structure, which includes safeguards against his removal and compensation tied to Mars colonization goals. Musk stated that the company’s compensation package and corporate design are necessary to keep SpaceX focused on its long-term mission of making humanity a multi-planetary species and extending consciousness to the stars, rather than catering to short-term quarterly earnings. He added that while achieving this goal would make SpaceX’s value far exceed Earth’s entire economic output, the path forward will not be smooth.
