
According to an official announcement by OpenAI on May 11, OpenAI announced the establishment of its subsidiary, OpenAI Deployment Company (DeployCo), to help enterprises deploy AI systems in critical business processes. DeployCo is wholly owned by OpenAI and will work with 19 global investment institutions and advisory firms; its initial funding of more than $4 billion will be used to kick-start its operations.
According to OpenAI’s official announcement, DeployCo’s core model is to embed FDE within the customer’s organization, identify high-value AI opportunities, and jointly design, build, and deploy production systems with business leaders and technical teams. It will connect OpenAI models with the customer’s data, tools, control mechanisms, and business processes to ensure the AI system can run reliably in the customer’s day-to-day operations.
According to the announcement, DeployCo operates as an independent business unit, wholly owned by OpenAI. Customers, whether they work with OpenAI, DeployCo, or collaborate with both simultaneously, will receive a unified experience; the initial funding of more than $4 billion will also be used to acquire companies that can accelerate its mission.
According to OpenAI’s official announcement, Tomoro is an AI advisory and engineering company that previously supported mission-critical workflow operations for enterprises such as Tesco, Virgin Atlantic, and Supercell. After the acquisition is completed, about 150 FDE and Deployment Specialists from Tomoro will be able to start being used from day one of DeployCo’s formation. The announcement states that this acquisition must meet standard deal conditions, including approval from relevant regulatory authorities, and is expected to be completed within the next few months.

The announcement also noted that the above partners collectively provide support to more than 2,000 companies worldwide.
