According to Reuters, OpenAI signed an agreement with Malta’s government on Saturday, making the country the first to offer all residents free ChatGPT Plus access for one year after completing a free AI training course. The program launches in May and will be extended to Maltese citizens residing abroad. Malta’s Economy Minister Silvio Schembri said the initiative transforms “a foreign concept into practical benefits for our families, students, and workers.” Financial terms were not disclosed.
