Over 160 Tankers Stuck in Persian Gulf for 100+ Days Since Late February; IMO Warns Against Risky Transit

According to the International Maritime Organization, over 160 tankers remain stuck in Persian Gulf waters for more than 100 days since regional conflict erupted in late February. IMO Secretary-General Dominique Dumas warned on June 9 that maritime security cannot be compromised for commercial interests, urging ship operators against risking crew transits through the Strait of Hormuz. Despite some vessels departing early in the crisis, departure pace has slowed significantly due to persistent security risks in the region.
