Thailand's Former PM Thaksin Has Electronic Monitoring Device Removed, Receives Royal Pardon on June 9

According to the Thai Prison Department, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra had his electronic monitoring device removed and received a royal pardon on June 9. The move follows a royal amnesty decree issued by King Maha Vajiralongkorn on June 2. Thaksin was granted parole and released from Bangkok's Bang Phleng Central Prison on May 11 after meeting the pardon criteria.
