UK 10-Year Gilt Yields Surge 17.8 Basis Points to 5.172%, Nearing 2008 Peak

On May 15, UK 10-year gilt yields surged 17.8 basis points to 5.172% in late European trading, approaching the July 2, 2008 peak of 5.198%. Two-year yields rose 12.5 basis points to 4.551%. The week saw a cumulative increase of 26 basis points in 10-year yields, with sharp gains on May 11-12 followed by slight pullbacks on May 13-14.
