Gate News message, April 23 — X product lead and Solana advisor Nikita Bier announced two product changes for organizing communities on the platform. XChat now supports group chats with shareable links that users can post directly to their timeline, and X Communities will be officially discontinued on May 6 due to declining usage.
XChat’s new feature allows each group chat to accommodate up to 350 members, with the capacity continuing to expand. Users can create public links to invite others to join specific groups.
The discontinuation of X Communities reflects the platform’s shift in community-building tools, consolidating its social features around XChat as the primary mechanism for group organization and engagement.
