Spot is like you go to the market and buy groceries yourself—you pay, and then you take the food home; futures is like you bet with someone on whether grocery prices will rise or fall—you also have to put down a deposit, and if you lose, the deposit is gone.

Spot is the coins you own yourself—gains or losses are on you either way; futures are a bet on direction, with a delivery date, margin, and the risk of margin liquidation (being liquidated due to margin)—the difference is huge.
