According to U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, an aircraft departing Denver International Airport for Los Angeles struck a pedestrian who illegally breached security and crossed the runway during takeoff on May 9. The collision killed the intruder and injured 12 people aboard the aircraft, with 5 receiving medical treatment. The pilot immediately aborted the takeoff procedure following the impact. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have launched investigations into the incident.
