Amkor COO Outlines Three-Tiered Pricing Strategy, Raises Capex to $85B on June 24

On June 24, ASX-listed packaging leader Amkor Technology's Chief Operating Officer Wu Tian-yu outlined a three-tiered pricing strategy during the company's shareholder meeting, noting that material cost reflections are an inevitable necessity. He described the three tiers as reflecting raw material price increases, accounting for elevated capital investment costs, and adjusting based on market supply-demand dynamics.

Wu revealed Amkor's capital expenditure has surged from approximately $20 billion annually in prior years to $53 billion last year and $85 billion this year, with future increases not ruled out. He emphasized pricing adjustments must balance long-term customer relationships and trust over short-term gains, citing Taiwan's semiconductor competitive advantage rooted in industry-wide long-term investment commitment.
