Apollo Chief Economist: Dollar Faces Significant Downside Risk Amid AI Selloff

According to Jin10, Torsten Slok, chief economist at Apollo Global Management, said in recent weeks that the U.S. dollar's recent gains could face risks if AI stock selloffs intensify. Slok noted that international investors have been actively positioning in AI-themed assets, driving record rolling net foreign inflows into U.S. equities over the past 12 months, though most have not hedged their currency exposure. If AI performance disappoints and triggers a pullback in capital inflows, it could pose significant downside pressure on the dollar.
