At Least Seven Chinese Military-Linked Universities Sought Nvidia H200 Chips Since June 2025

According to Bloomberg, at least seven Chinese universities linked to the military and defense sector have sought access to Nvidia's H200 AI chips since June 2025, based on a review of procurement records. The group includes Beihang University and Northwestern Polytechnical University, both members of China's "Seven Sons of National Defense," a designation for universities supporting the People's Liberation Army. Both institutions are on the US Commerce Department blacklist. Records show they sought leases for H200 computing power. The review found no evidence of violations of US export controls, and could not confirm whether any university obtained actual access to the chips.
