At WAIC 2026, Industry Leaders Agree Manufacturing is Key to Embodied AI, Data Bottleneck Requires 100 Million Hours

At WAIC 2026, leaders from Fudan University, Yuanqi Robotics, Livepo Tech, and it-Stone AI held a panel discussion on world models for embodied AI. Consensus emerged that manufacturing represents the most viable near-term deployment scenario. Yuanqi Robotics has already achieved 99.99% success rate in assembly line operations with robotic fleet coordination; it-Stone AI is deploying thousand-unit-scale industrial embodied robots with automakers. Speakers identified data acquisition as the critical bottleneck, with estimates suggesting 100 million-plus hours of real-world interaction data needed for physical AI competency—comparable to speech training volumes in large language models. Long-term, the competition will shift from model architecture to high-quality data sourcing and closed-loop scenario validation.
