Banco BPM Proposes €50 Billion Merger with Siena Bank to Create Italy's Second-Largest Banking Group

According to Banco BPM, on June 7, the Italian bank proposed a merger with Siena Bank (MPS) to form Italy's second-largest banking group with approximately €50 billion in assets ($58 billion). Banco BPM's board, including major shareholder Crédit Agricole, unanimously approved extending the merger proposal to Siena Bank. The combined entity is expected to generate annual pre-tax profit exceeding €1.1 billion, with projected earnings per share (EPS) growth exceeding 10%.
