BitMEX to Shut Down Operations on September 23, 2026, After 11 Years

According to an official announcement on July 23, 2026, BitMEX will permanently cease operations on September 23, 2026. The decision was made by HDR Global Trading Limited, the exchange's owner. Users are advised to close all open positions and withdraw funds before the shutdown date, with roughly two months to complete the transition. BitMEX assured users that assets remain fully safe and under their control during this period. The platform operated for 11 years without any customer funds lost to hacks, and is credited with popularizing perpetual swap contracts in crypto derivatives markets.
