According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian on July 24, China called for restraint and dialogue to resolve the Red Sea crisis following Houthi announcements of a naval blockade and attacks on Saudi oil tankers. Lin stated that regional countries' sovereignty and security should be respected, and international shipping lanes' safety must be jointly protected. China urged all parties to avoid escalatory actions and work toward restoring peace and stability in the Gulf region through negotiation.
