According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments, five government agencies launched a 2026 new energy vehicle countryside initiative on June 18 to promote vehicle trade-in programs in rural areas. The program targets reliable, high-quality electric vehicle models suited to rural consumption needs.
Rural consumers participating in trade-in programs for new energy vehicles are now eligible to claim subsidies without restrictions on subsidy quota limits. The initiative also implements vehicle purchase tax exemptions, vehicle and vessel tax reductions, and subsidies to strengthen charging infrastructure in county-level regions.
