China Reaffirms Peaceful Development Path as Foreign Ministry Responds to New Zealand Report on June 26

According to China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on June 26, China reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful development in response to a New Zealand government internal document that cited Chinese ballistic missile tests and naval operations as "persistent" features in the Pacific region. Guo stated that China's military development aims to safeguard national sovereignty and development interests and poses no threat to any country, adding that China's military growth strengthens world peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

The internal document, obtained by AFP, was prepared by the New Zealand government in late 2025 amid concerns over Beijing's expanding security presence in the region.
