China's Foreign Ministry Dismisses Lai Chen-de Over Taiwan Independence Stance on May 18

GateNews

According to China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on May 18, Lai Chen-de’s recent remarks reiterated his commitment to pursuing independence, exposing his “stubborn adherence” to “Taiwan independence” separatism. Guo stated that the Lai administration has repeatedly colluded with external forces to seek separation, attempting to “internationalize” the Taiwan issue and destabilizing the status quo.

Guo said the Foreign Ministry views the Lai administration as “the greatest disruptor of the Taiwan Strait status quo and the largest source of instability.” He emphasized that “Taiwan independence” and peace are incompatible, and that pursuing independence through external alignment or military means is “merely a fantasy,” according to CCTV.
