China's Regulators Jointly Release 2026 AI Metrology Framework to Address Algorithm Transparency

According to CCTV News, China's State Administration for Market Regulation and National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued the "Guidance on Artificial Intelligence Metrology System and Capability Development (2026 Edition)" today. The framework systematically addresses AI measurement standards across six areas, including foundational support, general technologies, core technologies, and measurement service industries. Targeting the "measurement accuracy" challenge and algorithm opacity issues, the guidance deploys key technical initiatives such as AI system state monitoring to establish reliable, safe, and trustworthy AI measurement standards, ensuring AI performance metrics are "measurable, comparable, and traceable."
