According to State Grid Southern Electric Power Company, Southern China's power grid hit a record electricity load at 8:21 p.m. on May 25, marking a 1.83 million kilowatt increase from the previous peak, or 0.71% growth.

The record came roughly one month earlier than typical seasonal patterns, breaking the historical trend where annual peak loads have concentrated in June and July between 2020 and 2025. Guangxi and Hainan provincial grids simultaneously reached their own record loads that evening.
