According to Shanghai Securities News, China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) Vice Chairman Pang Xiaogang announced on July 18 during WAIC 2026 that state-owned enterprises must advance foundational large models, breakthrough algorithms, physical AI, intelligent computing chips, and quantum communications technologies.
Pang noted that SASAC-controlled enterprises have cultivated over 1,200 AI scenarios across industries and deployed 5 large computing clusters (10,000 GPUs each). Going forward, state enterprises will increase investments to expand self-built and managed intelligent computing capacity, enhance cross-domain computing power scheduling, and accelerate energy-efficient deployment of universally accessible computing services.
