Citi Predicts Fed Rate Cut in October, JPMorgan Expects No Adjustment in 2026

According to Reuters and official statements, the Federal Reserve kept its policy interest rate unchanged at 3.50-3.75 percent on June 17 during the first FOMC meeting under new Chairman Kevin Warsh. Citigroup revised its forecast, now predicting the Fed will cut rates by 25 basis points three times: in October and December 2026, and January 2027, citing the Fed's hawkish stance under Warsh's leadership. In contrast, Tai Hui, Chief Market Strategist for Asia at JPMorgan Asset Management, stated the bank expects the Fed to keep interest rates stable throughout 2026, noting that the Fed will "be patient at current interest rate levels" and make no adjustments this year.
