According to Coinbase's July 23 announcement, the exchange unveiled its post-quantum cryptography roadmap and launched the Bitcoin Security Consortium alongside BlackRock, Fidelity Digital Assets, Block, Blockstream, and others to support long-term Bitcoin network security.

Coinbase is developing PQ-CoreKMS, a post-quantum key management system to safeguard 99.9% of custodied assets. The company plans to deliver an automated signing pipeline within one year that integrates secure enclaves and threshold cryptography for post-quantum signature algorithms, followed by full Multi-Party Computation capabilities over two to three years. The consortium will function as an information source on Bitcoin's security posture while supporting developers working on quantum-related challenges.
