Container Freight Index Surges 60.78% in Seven Weeks, Peak Up 13.08% on June 1

According to shipping data, container freight index futures surged on June 1, with the June 2607 contract peaking 13.08% intraday and closing up 11.69%. The contract has climbed for seven consecutive weeks since late April, accumulating a 60.78% gain. In the spot market, current freight rates are strengthening amid an earlier-than-usual peak season. As of May 22, the Shanghai-Genoa route rose 10% week-over-week, while the Shanghai-Rotterdam route climbed 15%. South American and Australia-New Zealand routes also posted notable increases.
