ECB to Reassess Policy Stance in September Based on Economic Data, Says Chief Economist Lane

According to Jin10, ECB Chief Economist Philip Lane stated on July 24 that the central bank will reassess and may adjust its policy stance in September based on economic data. Lane noted that September will be a key decision point, with policy adjustments largely dependent on whether oil and gas prices remain elevated or a lasting solution to reopen the Strait of Hormuz supply emerges. The ECB previously kept rates unchanged to assess the impact of Middle East conflicts on eurozone inflation and growth.
