Electronic-Grade Hydrofluoric Acid Surges 19-50% as Chipmakers Rush Supplies Amid AI Chip Demand

According to Taiwan Economic Daily, Taiwan chipmakers TSMC, Samsung, and SK Hynix have been rushing to purchase electronic-grade hydrofluoric acid since the start of the year, with some suppliers raising prices 20-30% amid supply tightness. As of June 29, domestic UP/UPS-grade products climbed 19-17% year-to-date, according to data from Baichuan Yingfu. The surge was driven by rising costs for sulfuric acid and fluorite, coupled with demand from AI infrastructure expansion and semiconductor manufacturing upgrades. Global G5-grade (highest purity) supply remains limited, with production leaders concentrated in Japan (Stella Chemifa, Kanto Chemical) and South Korea (Soulbrain, ENF Technology).
