According to Bitcoin.com News, Ethereum Foundation co-director Hsiao-Wei Wang resigned recently, marking the eighth senior departure in five months. Wang stated she felt it was "the right moment to step back" from her role. The departures have intensified scrutiny of the foundation's direction, with roughly 19 staff exits recorded in 2026 alone.

The exodus coincides with a separate funding crisis: core development requires approximately $30 million annually, and former funding coordinator Trent Van Epps warned in April that Ethereum core developers could face funding shortages within three to nine months. Board member Bastian Aue has temporarily stepped in as the foundation searches for permanent leadership.
