Fed Official Kashkari Expects One Rate Hike in 2026 Amid Inflation Concerns

According to Federal Reserve official Kashkari on June 26, he expects the Fed to raise interest rates once this year and keep rates unchanged in 2027, citing broad-based inflation pressures. Kashkari said in a Friday interview: "I am concerned about inflation, and this reflects signs of broader inflation pressures in the economy, not just related to Middle East geopolitics." Data released earlier this week showed May PCE inflation at 4.1% year-over-year, the largest increase since April 2023. In the Fed's dot plot released last week, half of the officials who submitted projections expect at least one rate hike this year.
