France to Phase Out Non-Quantum-Safe Encryption by 2027, ANSSI Announces

According to Reuters, France's cybersecurity agency ANSSI announced this week that it will stop certifying security products lacking quantum-resistant encryption beginning in 2027, with companies advised to purchase only quantum-safe products by 2030. ANSSI certification is mandatory for French government agencies and critical infrastructure operators, making the decision a de facto phase-out of older cryptographic systems. The move reflects growing concerns about "harvest now, decrypt later" attacks, where adversaries collect encrypted data today expecting future quantum computers to unlock it.
