Germany Cancels €12.8 Billion F126 Frigate Project on Tuesday, Shifts to Smaller Meko A-200

According to Financial Times, Germany's Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday it plans to cancel the €12.8 billion F126 frigate project, which was meant to build the country's largest warship since World War II. Instead, Berlin will procure eight smaller Meko A-200 frigates, according to two sources briefed by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and senior officials.

The decision marks a significant setback for German defense contractor Rheinmetall, which was set to serve as the primary contractor for the original F126 program covering six ships.
