Global Millionaires Surged Nearly 2 Million in 2025, With Ultra-Wealthy Gaining Faster Than Average

According to Capgemini's Global Wealth Report released in 2025, the wealth of high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) expanded by 8.7% to a record $98.3 trillion, with the global HNWI population growing by approximately 2 million to reach 29.3 million people.

Ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWI)—those with investable assets exceeding $30 million—saw wealth growth of nearly 10%, outpacing the roughly 8% gain for millionaires with $1–$5 million in assets. Capgemini's research noted that the top 1% of wealth holders captured disproportionate gains, with UHNWI representing just 1% of the HNWI population but controlling 34.8% of total wealth. The report attributed much of the wealth expansion to the artificial intelligence boom, which elevated technology stocks and early-stage AI investment opportunities available primarily to ultra-wealthy investors.
