The Hang Seng Index closed up 144 points, or 0.6%, at 24,175 points today, after U.S. chip stocks rallied overnight, offsetting weakness from renewed U.S.-Iran military tensions. For the week, the index gained 825 points, or 3.53%. Morning gains of over 400 points were tempered by afternoon weakness in mainland Chinese stocks, with the index briefly approaching the 24,500-point level before retreating.
The HSI National Index rose 41 points, or 0.52%, to 8,039 points, accumulating 399 points, or 4.41%, for the week. The Hang Seng Tech Index fell 9 points, or 0.21%, to 4,721 points, though it posted a weekly gain of 222 points, or 4.95%. Daily turnover reached 339.59 billion Hong Kong dollars, with net southbound flows of 5.995 billion Hong Kong dollars.
