According to Cuba Debate, humanitarian aid shipments from Mexico and Uruguay arrived in Havana early on May 18. The cargo ship carried food items including powdered milk, rice, beans, and personal hygiene products. Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Pérez-Oliva stated that continued U.S. sanctions have significantly impacted Cuban citizens’ daily lives across all sectors of society, adding that the assistance from Mexico and Uruguay demonstrates Latin American solidarity with Cuba during difficult times.
