According to The Business Times, Indonesia tightened inspections on metal exports this month, with particular focus on rare earth elements and uranium content, causing shipment delays on products including alumina and nickel pig iron. The customs authority stated it commissioned independent laboratories to verify the composition of exported mineral products, with rare earth elements as a primary testing focus. Inspected shipments may proceed to export, though the stricter procedures have already delayed several batches this month. A local prosecutor also charged three suspects earlier this month for allegedly concealing rare earth elements in laboratory reports used for export permits.
