Iran Asserts Frozen Assets Completely Free to Use on June 23

According to Iran's state news agency, Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei stated on June 23 that Iran will decide independently how to use its unfrozen assets based on national interests and without any restrictions. The statement rebutted media speculation that asset use would be limited to purchasing specific goods including U.S. food. Baghaei said there are no such limitations, and Iran's relevant agencies will decide purchases based on price and quality. The U.S. sales license for Iranian crude oil, petrochemicals, and related services took effect on June 22, applying the same principles to the unfrozen assets.
