Iran Closes Strait of Hormuz; China Calls for Free Navigation on July 13

According to China's Foreign Ministry, on July 13, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and stated it would review ships' transit requests, amid escalating U.S.-Iran tensions. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that early restoration of safe and free passage through the strait aligns with all parties' interests. He added that Beijing is willing to maintain communication with relevant countries and the international community on ensuring proper handling of navigation issues and addressing global concerns.
