Iran Parliament Speaker Says Won't Comply With U.S. Ceasefire Deal if No Benefits on July 15

According to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, on July 15, Iran does not need to comply with a ceasefire agreement with the United States if it gains no benefits from the deal. In a statement, Ghalibaf said Iran's national security depends on maintaining control of the Strait of Hormuz and that Tehran's approach to negotiations must be based on national interests, national security, and long-term perspectives. He added that Iran has no choice but to rely on its own strength. High-level talks between the U.S. and Iran are currently suspended.
