Iran Strengthens Strait of Hormuz Control Despite U.S. Diplomatic Efforts, Shipping Traffic Down

According to Al Jazeera, Iran's actual control over the Strait of Hormuz has strengthened following recent conflict, despite U.S. efforts to restore normal shipping, a King's College London security analyst said on July 3. Rob Guest-Pinford noted that daily shipping traffic remains significantly below pre-war levels of approximately 125 vessels, while Gulf states have accelerated efforts to develop alternative trade routes. He stated that Iran is consolidating its strategic influence over the critical waterway through sustained actions, effectively forcing shipping companies to adapt to the new operating environment.
