Iran Warns of Retaliation After U.S. Suspends Oil Sanctions Waiver, Violates Pact

According to Iran's Foreign Ministry on July 8, the Iranian government condemned the U.S. Treasury Department for suspending a waiver on Iranian oil sales sanctions, calling the move a "serious violation" of Article 10 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 18. Iran said the U.S. revoked related licenses issued on June 21 just three weeks after signing the accord.

Iran accused the U.S. of repeated violations directly and through Israeli actions against Lebanon, stating that if the U.S. continues to breach the memorandum, Iran will take all necessary measures it deems required to protect national interests and security.
