According to Bloomberg and Kpler on June 17, four Iranian oil tankers activated their transponders and exited the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman, including two supertankers with individual capacity of 2 million barrels each, signaling a potential lifting of U.S. maritime restrictions. Ship-tracking firm TankerTrackers.com reported the same day that at least three tankers previously docked at Chabahar port have departed.
Approximately 68 million barrels of Iranian crude oil remain stranded at sea awaiting export, according to shipping analyst Kpler. Bloomberg reported that the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding will grant Iran immediate oil sanctions relief upon signing, with no transition period required, potentially easing global crude supply tensions.
