According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, a U.S. escort ship received warning fire on May 12 as it attempted to transit the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state news agency IRNA reported. Senior IRGC Navy official Mohammad Akbarzadeh said the vessel displayed provocative behavior during Iranian surveillance and subsequently altered its course. Iran stated it would continue close monitoring of regional developments and would not tolerate any violations of its territorial waters. The exact timing of the incident was not disclosed.
