According to Beating, Kimi Code suspended the account of Chinese developer Leechael on May 26 after he created an adapter integrating the service into a third-party terminal tool. The company later reinstated affected accounts but issued apologies in English exclusively on X, responding only to foreign developer Noemi and ignoring protests from Chinese users.

Leechael announced the indefinite suspension of his open-source plugin pi-provider-kimi-code in response, citing discriminatory treatment of Chinese users, arbitrary account suspension, lack of explanation, and inadequate appeal channels. He requested a refund, stating that developing on a platform that "bans first and refuses to explain" offers no long-term value.

In English, “pi” is read as “π”; in Chinese, it’s read as “屁”. That’s the difference between foreigners and China.
