KOSPI Foreign Investor Holdings at 40.5%, Below 10-Year Average, as Index PE Falls to 5.7x on July 27

According to Shinyang Securities analyst Lee Sang-yeon on July 27, foreign investors' KOSPI holdings remain at 40.5%, significantly below historical averages, with structural inflow potential. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix—core market constituents—have foreign ownership at 46.7% and 52.5% respectively, both below their 10-year averages. The KOSPI's forward price-to-earnings ratio has declined to 5.7x, approaching undervaluation levels. After sustained net selling since May that accumulated to a net short position, foreign investors shifted to net buying in the spot market in mid-July, signaling potential capitulation support for the index.
