GateNews

On May 29, Latin American assets slid, with the Brazilian benchmark Bovespa falling 0.7% and registering its steepest monthly decline since February 2023. Investors focused on potential U.S.-Iran peace negotiations while navigating currency weakness. The broader MSCI Latin America currency index held nearly flat.

Brazilian real exchange rates remained essentially unchanged on the day, though the currency recorded its worst monthly performance of the year. The broader regional equity index is poised for its steepest single-month decline since late 2024.
